Stall Test
CAUTION:
DO NOT allow anyone to stand in front of vehicle during this test.
- Check transmission fluid level. Correct as necessary. Bring engine to normal operating temperature. Connect tachometer to engine. Block front wheels. Apply parking brake and service brakes while making test.
- Test consists of determining engine speed at full throttle in "D" position. Open throttle, but DO NOT hold throttle open any longer than is necessary to obtain maximum engine speed reading. NEVER hold throttle open for longer than 5 seconds during test.
- If more than one stall speed check is required, operate engine at approximately 1000 RPM in "N" for 20 seconds to cool transmission fluid between checks.
NOTE:
If engine speed exceeds maximum RPM, immediately release throttle as transmission clutch slippage is indicated.
