Noise During Stall Test

  1. Whining or siren-like noise due to fluid flow is normal during stall test with some converters. However, loud metallic noises from loose parts or interference within assembly indicates defective converter.
  2. To be sure noise originates in converter, raise vehicle on hoist. Operate at light throttle in "D" and "N" while listening under transmission bellhousing.
