Throttle Pressure
- Throttle pressures cannot be tested accurately. Adjustment should be measured if malfunction is evident. Remove valve body assembly from transmission. Loosen throttle lever stop screw lock nut. Back off screw approximately 5 turns.
- Insert gauge pin of Gauge (C-3763 on Chrysler Motors models, J-24031 on American Motors/Jeep models) between throttle lever cam and kickdown valve. Push in on gauge to compress kickdown valve against spring so valve is completely bottomed inside valve body.
- As force is being exerted to compress spring, turn throttle lever stop screw with Allen wrench. Adjustment is correct when head of screw touches throttle lever tang, with throttle lever cam touching gauge and throttle valve bottomed.
CAUTION:
Make adjustment with spring fully compressed and valve bottomed in valve body.
