Valve Body Assembly & Accumulator Piston: Installation

  1. Place valve body manual lever in "1" position. Using screwdriver, push park sprag into engagement with parking gear while turning output shaft to verify engagement. This allows knob on end of control rod to move past sprag as valve body is installed.
  2. Install accumulator piston in transmission case. Install accumulator spring between piston and valve body. Lift valve body into position, working park rod through opening and past sprag. Install retaining bolts finger tight.
  3. With neutral safety switch installed, place manual valve in neutral position. Shift valve body as necessary to center neutral finger over neutral switch plunger. Snug attaching bolts down evenly. Tighten bolts.
  4. Install gearshift lever. Tighten clamp bolt. Make sure no binding exists when lever is moved through all detent positions. If binding exists, loosen attaching bolts. Re-align assembly.
  5. Ensure throttle shaft seal is in place. Install flat washer and lever. Tighten clamp bolt. Connect throttle and shift linkage. Adjust (if necessary). Install oil pan with new gasket. Refill transmission to correct level.
