Reassembly (All Other Models)

  1. Install rear annulus gear support in annulus gear. Install snap ring. Install thrust gear on rear of planetary assembly. Install assembly in annulus gear. Install thrust washer on front of rear planetary assembly.
  2. Insert output shaft in rear of annulus gear. Work shaft through annulus gear support and planetary assembly, making sure shaft splines are fully engaged in splines of annulus gear support.
  3. Install thrust plate and snap ring (spacer on wide-ratio models) on end of sun gear. Insert sun gear through front of driving shell. Install thrust plate and snap ring on opposite end.
  4. Carefully slide driving shell and sun gear assembly onto output shaft, engaging sun gear teeth with rear planetary pinion teeth. Place front annulus gear support in annulus gear. Install snap ring.
  5. Place thrust washer on front of front planetary gear set. Position assembly in front annulus gear. Place thrust washer over planetary assembly hub. Install snap ring.
  6. Position thrust washer on rear of planetary gear set. Carefully work front planetary and annulus gear assembly onto output shaft, meshing planetary pinions with sun gear.
  7. With all components installed, install selective snap ring on front of output shaft. Measure end play. Adjust clearance with selective snap rings. Snap rings are available in sizes .042", .064" and .084" (1.02, 1.63, 2.13 mm).
