End Play Check

  1. Measure end play of planetary gear assemblies, sun gear and driving shell before removing from output shaft. Stand assembly upright with forward end of output shaft supported on wood block so all parts will move forward against snap ring at front of shaft.
  2. Insert feeler gauge between rear annulus gear support hub and shoulder on output shaft. Clearance should be .009-.44" (.23-1.12 mm) for 727 model, and .001-.047" (.25-1.20 mm) for all others. If not, replace thrust washer and/or other necessary parts. See Fig 1 .
