Reassembly (American Motors/Jeep)
- Install rotors in pump housing with reference marks facing up. New rotors may face either direction. Loosely assembly reaction shaft support to pump housing. DO NOT tighten bolts.
- Thread 2 slide hammer bolts from back to front into threaded reaction shaft support holes until bolt ends are recessed 1/16" below front machined surface of pump housing. Install one pilot stud into case pump opening.
- Insert pump assembly backward into case opening while tapping pump as needed to seat in case. Tighten reaction shaft support-to-pump housing screws.
- Remove reaction pump and reaction shaft support assembly from case. Remove slide hammer bolts from pump. Using seal installer, drive new seal into pump housing with lip of seal facing inward.
