Removal & Installation: Transmission: Installation

  1. Coat converter hub hole in crankshaft with multipurpose grease. Place transmission assembly on jack and position under vehicle. Make sure marks on converter and drive plate (made during removal) are aligned.
  2. Carefully work transmission assembly into position over dowels. Install all converter housing-to-engine retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to specification.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Adjust shift and throttle linkages and fill transmission with fluid. Use Mopar ATF Plus Type 7176 or Dexron II automatic transmission fluid. On 4WD models, install transfer case.
