Transfer Case - Model NP-231 & NP-241: Installation

  1. Install new transmission-to-transfer case gasket with sealer on both sides. Align transfer case with transmission. Rotate transfer case output shaft until transmission output shaft engages transfer case input shaft.
  2. Move transfer case until case seats flush against transmission. Install transfer case attaching bolts. To complete installation, reverse removal procedures. With vehicle in level position, remove filler plug and add lubricant until fluid level reaches bottom of filler hole.
  3. Use Mopar ATF Plus type 7176, or Dexron II transmission fluid. Torque all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
