Model NP-208: Removal

  1. Raise vehicle, remove plug and drain transfer case. Mark front and rear output shaft yokes and drive shafts for reassembly reference. Disconnect speedometer cable and indicator switch wires. Disconnect shift lever link from operating lever.
  2. Support transfer case with transmission jack and remove crossmember. Disconnect front and rear drive shafts at yokes and wire to frame.
  3. If necessary, disconnect parking brake cable guide from pivot on right frame rail. Remove bolts attaching exhaust pipe support bracket to transfer case. Remove transfer case-to-transmission bolts. Move assembly to the rear until clear of output shaft. Lower transfer case from vehicle.
  4. Remove all gasket material from rear of transmission adapter housing.
