- To install, reverse removal procedures. Ensure converter fully engages pump inner rotor lugs. Surface of converter front cover lug should be at least 1/2" below front edge of bellhousing when converter is installed.
- Attach small "C" clamp to converter housing. Inspect converter flex plate for distortion or cracks and replace if necessary. Coat converter hub hole in crankshaft with multipurpose grease.NOTE: When flex plate replacement is necessary, ensure both transmission dowel pins are in engine block.
- Place transmission with converter on a transmission jack. Rotate converter so mark on converter (made during removal) will align with mark on drive plate. Offset holes in drive plate are located next to 1/8" hole in inner circle of plate. A stamped "O" identifies offset hole in converter.
- Position transmission at rear of engine. Install and tighten all bolts to specifications. Clean oil pan and replace pan gasket. See appropriate AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICING article in this section. Adjust shift and throttle linkage. Refill transmission with required amount of fluid.
