- Start and let engine warm to operating temperature. Retract Idle Speed Control (ISC) actuator with Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB-II), or with jumper wires. If DRB-II is used, connect tester to diagnostic connector in engine compartment.
- Star engine and place DRB-II in THROTTLE BODY MINIMUM AIRFLOW test. Disconnect electrical connector on ISC actuator. Turn engine off and disconnect DRB-II tester. Do not leave DRB-II connected to diagnostic connector. Actuator is now fully retracted and transmission throttle rod may be adjusted. Go to step 4).
- If DRB-II is not available and jumper wires are used, turn engine off. Disconnect electrical connector at ISC actuator. Connect one jumper wire between negative battery terminal and top pin on ISC actuator. Connect other jumper wire between positive battery terminal and second pin on ISC actuator. Disconnect jumper wires after 5 seconds. ISC actuator is now fully retracted. Go to next step.
- Raise vehicle on hoist. Loosen swivel lock screw. See Fig 1. Ensure swivel is free to slide along flat end of throttle rod so preload spring action is not restricted. Disassemble and clean parts to assure free action, if necessary.
- Hold transmission lever firmly forward against internal stop and tighten swivel lock screw. Adjustment is complete. Linkage backlash is automatically removed by preload spring.
- Lower vehicle. Reconnect ISC actuator electrical connector. Reposition ISC actuator for normal operation. Turn ignition key to ON position for a minimum of 5 seconds. DO NOT start engine. Turn ignition key to OFF position. Actuator is now positioned for normal operation.
