WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1989 Dodge Ramcharger, 1989 Dodge Ram Wagon, 1989 Dodge Ram Van, 1989 Dodge Pickup, and 1989 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Loosen oil pan bolts. Tap lightly at one corner to break loose and allow fluid to drain. Remove pan. Install new filter on bottom of valve body and tighten retaining screws. Clean oil pan. Ensure magnet (if equipped) is over boss in right from corner of pan. Install pan with new gasket.
  2. Refill transmission with 4 qts. (3.8L) of fluid. Start engine and allow to run at idle for at least 2 minutes. With engine at curb idle and parking brake applied, move shift selector lever through all ranges, ending in "N". Add fluid up to 2 dimples on dipstick. DO NOT  overfill. Recheck fluid level when transmission reaches normal operating temperature.
