Floor Shift (RWD Models)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1985 Dodge Ramcharger, 1985 Dodge Ram Wagon, 1985 Dodge Ram Van, 1985 Dodge Pickup, and 1985 Dodge Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Loosen adjustable rod swivel lock screw, place selector in "PARK", and move shift lever on transmission all the way to rear (park position).
  2. Adjust swivel so no load is placed on linkage in either direction, then tighten swivel lock screw. Check adjustment so shift effort is free, detents are solid, and all gate stops are positive.
  3. Detent position should be close enough to gate stops in "NEUTRAL" and "DRIVE" so shift selector lever will not remain out of detent position when placed against gate and released. Starter should operate only in "NEUTRAL" or "PARK" positions.
