Draining & Refilling

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove oil pan bolts to gradually lower and drain pan at one corner. Remove oil filter screws and remove filter. Adjustment of rear band can be made at this time (if required).
  2. Install new filter and filter gasket or "O" ring (if equipped) on bottom of valve body and tighten screws (if equipped) 35 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). Clean transmission pan with solvent and blow dry with compressed air.
  3. Install pan with new gasket. Make sure round magnet is over boss in right front corner of oil pan. Tighten pan bolts to 150 INCH lbs. (17 N.m). Lower vehicle. Add 2 qts. (1.9L) of ATF. Start engine and allow to idle for at least 2 minutes.
  4. With engine at curb idle and parking brake applied, move gear selector lever through all positions, ending in the "N" position. Add enough fluid to bring level to "ADD" mark on dipstick.
  5. Recheck fluid level after transmission has reached normal operating temperature. Add ATF fluid as necessary. DO NOT  overfill. Ensure dipstick is fully seated.
