Column Shift (RWD Models)

  1. Place shift selector in "P" position. Loosen adjustable swivel lock screw, making sure swivel block is free to turn on shift rod. Move shift lever on transmission all the way to rear detent position ("PARK" position). Tighten swivel lock screw to 90 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
  2. Check adjustment by moving shift selector. Detents for Drive and Neutral should be within limits of selector gate stops. Starter should operate only with selector in Park or Neutral. See Fig 1 .
    CAUTION: Replace old plastic grommets with new ones if necessary to remove linkage cable from lever. Use pliers to snap new grommet into lever and rod into grommet.
