High Temperature RECLAMP

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

After heavy use of the brakes, the brake disc temperatures can be extremely high. If the vehicle is stationary and the Electric Park Brake (EPB) is applied, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module automatically reapplies the EPB. It is necessary so the brake discs cool down. A temperature model in the ABS control module software calculates the brake disc temperature from the brake application force.

High temperature reclamp occurs at brake disc temperatures of 250°C (482°F) and above. It also occurs when the vehicle is parked on a 20% or steeper slope at any temperature. Up to 3 reclamps can occur, at varying time intervals, in the 10 minutes following the initial application of the EPB. Occurring reclamps depend on the temperature and tilt. To limit the number of reclamps, the ignition status as well as the current tilt of the vehicle is considered.
