Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Remove the component from the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1627

  2. Lubricate the seal with clean engine oil.

  3. Install the fuel pump.
    CAUTION: Extreme cleanliness must be exercised when handling this component.

  4. Install the fuel pump retaining bolt.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm 

  5. Install the fuel pump retaining bolts.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm 

  6. Install the fuel pump sprocket retaining nut.
    CAUTION: Only tighten the nut finger tight at this stage.

    Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1627

  7. Loosen the bolts as indicated in the illustration.

  8. Tighten the fuel pump sprocket retaining nut.

    Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1627

    Torque Specification: 80 Nm 

  9. Remove the special tool bolts.

  10. Remove the special tool.

  11. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

  12. Install the fuel pump cover.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  13. Install a new fuel rail high pressure supply pipe.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the component is clean, free of foreign material and lubricant.

    Renew Part: Fuel rail supply pipe(s) Quantity: 1

  14. Remove and discard the blanking cap.

  15. Attach the fuel rail fuel supply line to the fuel pump.
    CAUTION: Only tighten the union finger-tight at this stage.

  16. Remove and discard the blanking cap.

  17. Attach the fuel rail fuel supply line to the fuel rail.
    CAUTION: Only tighten the union finger-tight at this stage.

  18. Install the fuel line retaining bracket bolt.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  19. Tighten the high-pressure fuel pipe to the fuel pump union.

    Torque Specification: 15 Nm 

  20. Tighten the high-pressure fuel pipe to the fuel pump union 60°. This is the equivalent of one flat on the fuel pipe union, as illustrated.

    Torque Specification: 60° 

  21. Tighten the high-pressure fuel pipe to the fuel rail union.

    Torque Specification:

    Stage 1: 10 Nm 

    Stage 2: 62° 

  22. Attach the wiring harness.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  23. Attach the EGR valve.

    Torque Specification: 9 Nm 

  24. Install a new gasket.

  25. Attach the EGR valve pipe.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  26. Connect the electrical connector.

  27. Connect the electrical connectors.

  28. Remove and discard the blanking caps.

  29. Connect the fuel pump fuel return line.
    G11307479
  30. Remove and discard the blanking cap.
    G11307536
  31. Connect the fuel pump fuel return line.

  32. Make sure that a new gasket and O-ring seal is installed.

    Torque Specification: 

    M6x20 7 Nm 

    M6x25 11 Nm 

  33. Install the clip.

  34. Remove and discard the blanking caps.

  35. Connect the fuel supply and return lines.

  36. Attach the oil level indicator bracket.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  37. Remove and discard the blanking caps.

  38. Connect the fuel rail fuel supply line.
    G11307470
  39. Attach the fuel lines.
    G11307434
  40. Connect the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

  41. Bleed the fuel system.
    CAUTION: Bleed the fuel system by cranking the engine to purge the air from the system.

  42. Install the NVH material.

  43. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel .
