Open the tailgate.

Release the tailgate aperture seal.

Remove the access cover.

Release the grommet.

• Disconnect the wiring harnesses electrical connectors.
• Release the wiring harnesses.

Disconnect the washer jet hose.

Disconnect the tailgate actuator from the body.

• Remove the 4 retaining nuts.
• With assistance, remove the tailgate assembly.

• NOTE:

  • Only complete the following step(s) if the new component is to be installed.
  • Do not remove the component at this stage.

  Remove the 2 retaining clips.

• Reposition the activity key transceiver module.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Remove the activity key transceiver module.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Release the electrical harness.
• Remove the tailgate actuator from the tailgate.

• Disconnect electrical connector.
• Remove and discard the retaining clips.
• Remove the tailgate anti-trap sensor.

Remove the latch cover trim.

  Release the wiring harness clip.

• Release the latch.

Disconnect electrical connector from the latch.

• Release the latch cable.
• Remove the latch.

• Remove the tailgate closing motor.

Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the tailgate control module (TGCM).

• Remove 2 retaining clips.
• Remove the tailgate control module (TGCM).

Remove and discard tailgate trim finisher.

• Disconnect the electrical connector.
• Remove the 3 retaining nuts.

• Carefully release the clip.
• Remove the rear fog lamp.
