Air Conditioning System Recovery, Evacuation And Charging (G1899485)

82.30.30 AIR CONDITIONING - RECOVER, RECYCLE AND RECHARGE SYSTEM ALL DERIVATIVES 0.50
NOTE:
  • In the event of any Air Conditioning (A/C) components being removed from the vehicle or the system being open to the atmosphere, the open A/C  pipes/component ports must be suitably sealed. Make sure no adhesive surface (tape's) touch the sealing surfaces or opening's to pipe/port in case of contamination internally to the system. (Good practice would be to use clean plastic/cling film or clean blanking caps and then tape around the body of the pipe or component to secure.) In the instance of contamination to the sealing face of pipe/component, please use PAG oil and a clean lint free cloth as a cleaning method.
  • The desiccant bag need only be changed under the following circumstances: There is dirt in the refrigerant circuit (For example: compressor seizure), the system is leaking and refrigerant has been lost to atmosphere, or the refrigerant circuit has been open to atmosphere more than 1 hour, due to repair.
  1. WARNING: Servicing must be done by personnel familiar with both vehicle system and the charging and testing equipment. All operations must be done in a well ventilated area away from open flame and heat sources.
    CAUTION: If equipped with refrigerant checking devices, it is recommended that the system is tested prior to recovery. A/C  systems filled with incorrect refrigerant can cause damage to vehicles system and the equipment used to service them.

    Refrigerant recovery.

    Remove the dust covers from the High Pressure (HP) and Low Pressure (LP) connections.

  3. Connect the HP  and LP  lines to the appropriate connections.
  4. WARNING: Refrigerant must always be recycled before re-use to make sure that the purity of the refrigerant is high enough for safe use in the A/C  system. Recycling should always be completed with equipment which is design certified for compliance with SAE J2099 and SAE J2788. Other equipment may not recycle refrigerant to the required level of purity. R-134a or R-1234yf Refrigerant Recover Recycling Recharging stations must not be used with any other type of refrigerant. Refrigerant R-134a or R-1234yf from domestic and commercial sources must not be used in motor vehicles A/C  systems.

    Following the manufacturer's instructions, recover the refrigerant from the A/C  system.

    • Measure and record the quantity of refrigerant oil recovered from the system.
  5. CAUTION:
    • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
    • Always follow the health and safety precautions when handling the refrigerant R-134a or R-1234yf
    • Collect the refrigerant in specialist equipment and reuse.
    NOTE: In the event of any A/C  components being removed from the vehicle or the system being open to the atmosphere, the open A/C  pipes/component ports must be suitably sealed.     Disconnect the HP  and LP  connections.

  6. Evacuation. 
  7. NOTE: In the event of the A/C  circuit being opened for longer than a 1hr period (not sealed as mentioned above), there is dirt in the refrigerant circuit (for example - compressor seizure) or the system is leaking and all the refrigerant has been lost to atmosphere, the desiccant bag within the condenser must be replaced. An Evacuation time of at least 1hr is required.

    Connect the HP  and LP  lines to the appropriate connections.

  8. Following the manufacturer's instructions, evacuate the A/C  system.
  9. CAUTION: The system must be vacuumed for 30 minutes immediately before recharging commences. Delay between vacuum and recharging is not permitted.

    Recharging 

  10. Make sure the correct amount of oil is added to the A/C  system before or during recharging. For additional information, Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS  .
  11. Recharge the A/C  system to the correct specification. For additional information, Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS  .
  12. Disconnect the HP  and LP  connections.

    Install and firmly tighten the caps that cover the HP  and LP  connections.
