Tailgate - SPORTBRAKE (G2136526): Installation

  1. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the 2 bump stop.

  2. Install the tailgate open switch.
    • Install the left wiring harness.
    • Reposition the grommet.
  4. Secure the left wire harness to the tailgate.
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the parking aid camera.
  6. Connect the electrical connector to the tailgate open switch.
  7. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the license plate lamp.

  8. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Connect the electrical connector to the license plate lamp.

  9. CAUTION: Make sure that the retaining clip is secured correctly.
    NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
    • Install the rear fog lamp.
    • Install the 3 retaining nuts.

      Torque  : 4 Nm 

    • Connect the electrical connector.
  10. Install the new tailgate trim finisher.

    Renew Part: Tailgate finisher  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the tailgate control module (TGCM).
    • Install the 2 retaining clips.
  12. Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the tailgate control module (TGCM).
    • Install the tailgate closing motor.
    • Connect the electrical connector to the tailgate closing motor.
  14. Install the latch cable.
  15. Connect the electrical connector to the latch.
    • Install the latch.
    • Install the 2 retaining bolts.

      Torque  : 8 Nm 

  17. Install the latch cover trim.
  18. Install the rear window.

    Refer to: REAR WINDOW - SPORTBRAKE

  19. CAUTION: Install new retaining clips.
    NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
    • Install the new retaining clips.

      Renew Part: Tailgate finisher  Quantity: 1  .

    • Carefully install the tailgate anti-trap sensor.
  20. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Connect the electrical connector to the tailgate anti-trap sensor.

  21. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the tailgate actuator.

    • Connect the electrical connector to the activity key transceiver module.
    • Install the activity key transceiver module.
    • With assistance, install the tailgate assembly.
    • Align the tailgate.
    • Tighten the 4 retaining nuts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

  24. NOTE:
    • Only do this step if a new tailgate has been installed.
    • For successful adhesion, the temperature of the badge adhesive must be at least 20°C. Heat the component if required.
    • The temperature difference between the badge adhesive and the vehicle surface must be less than 5°C.
    • The new tailgate badge is supplied on a cassette which is highlighted in blue on the illustration.

    • Clean the area prior to installation of the tailgate badge with a suitable cleaner.
    • Install the tailgate badge to the dimensions shown in the illustration.
    • Enable even contact with the part curvature and apply even pressure over the cassette.
  25. NOTE:
    • Only do this step if a new tailgate has been installed.
    • For successful adhesion, the temperature of the badge adhesive must be at least 20°C. Heat the component if required.
    • The temperature difference between the badge adhesive and the vehicle surface must be less than 5°C.
    • The new tailgate badge is supplied on a cassette which is highlighted in blue on the illustration.

    • Clean the area prior to installation of the tailgate badge with a suitable cleaner.
    • Install the tailgate badge to the dimensions shown in the illustration.
    • Enable even contact with the part curvature and apply even pressure over the cassette.
  26. CAUTION: This step is for tailgate badges with cassettes measuring 130 mm x 65 mm only.
    NOTE:
    • Only do this step if a new tailgate has been installed.
    • For successful adhesion, the temperature of the badge adhesive must be at least 20°C. Heat the component if required.
    • The temperature difference between the badge adhesive and the vehicle surface must be less than 5°C.
    • The new tailgate badge is supplied on a cassette which is highlighted in blue on the illustration.

    • Clean the area prior to installation of the tailgate badge with a suitable cleaner.
    • Install the tailgate badge to the dimensions shown in the illustration.

  27. CAUTION: This step is for tailgate badges with cassettes measuring 130 mm x 80 mm only.
    NOTE:
    • Only do this step if a new tailgate has been installed.
    • For successful adhesion, the temperature of the badge adhesive must be at least 20°C. Heat the component if required.
    • The temperature difference between the badge adhesive and the vehicle surface must be less than 5°C.
    • The new tailgate badge is supplied on a cassette which is highlighted in blue on the illustration.

    • Clean the area prior to installation of the tailgate badge with a suitable cleaner.
    • Install the tailgate badge to the dimensions shown in the illustration.
    • Enable even contact with the part curvature and apply even pressure over the cassette.
  28. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Connect the tailgate actuator to the body.

    • Connect the electrical connectors to the body harness.
    • Secure the wiring harnesses.
  30. Install the washer jet hose.
  31. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the grommets.

  32. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the access cover.

  33. Install the tailgate aperture seal.
  34. Install the headliner.

    Refer to: HEADLINER - SPORTBRAKE

  35. NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.

    Install the hinge covers.

  36. Install the rear spoiler.

    Refer to: REAR SPOILER - SPORTBRAKE

  37. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
