HVAC Control Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Jaguar I-Pace, 2020 Jaguar I-Pace, and 2019 Jaguar I-Pace. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The HVAC control module controls the climate control system and the Air Conditioning (A/C) system. The HVAC controls the climate control system from inputs from the Integrated Control Panel (ICP), the Rear Integrated Control Panel (RICP) and the system sensors. In response to these inputs, the HVAC outputs control signals to the A/C system and the heating and ventilation system.

The HVAC also controls the heating for the passenger compartment as required. The HVAC selects the appropriate heat source from the following:

The HVAC communicates with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to determine the quantity of heat that can be recovered from the electric drive temperature control system to heat the passenger compartment. The HVAC also determines which alternative source of heat to use to heat the passenger compartment. The HVAC balances the amount of heat from the 3 sources to optimize the distance travelled by the vehicle on the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery.

The HVAC also receives cooling request from the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) to use the EV battery cooler to provide cooling for the EV battery. The BECM also sends requests for heating for the EV battery when the vehicle is connected to an external power supply to charge the EV battery.

The PCM provides the HVAC with the Ambient Air Temperature (ATT) data from the ATT sensor in the left door mirror through the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) power mode zero systems bus.

The HVAC has 4 main wiring harness connectors. The 4 connectors have the following connections:
