The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is installed in the left door mirror. The AAT sensor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) resistor that is hardwired to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which broadcasts the AAT to other systems. The HVAC receives the AAT through the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) power mode zero systems bus.

NOTE: Disconnect the startup battery before removing or installing the left door mirror. Failure to do this results in the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor providing an incorrect temperature of -40°C (-40°F). This prevents the Air Conditioning (A/C) system from functioning until the vehicle is driven for 10 to 20 minutes.
