ITEM DESCRIPTION
1 Air Conditioning (A/C) evaporator temperature sensor
2 Evaporator

The evaporator is located in the climate control assembly between the blower and the heater core to absorb heat from the exterior or recirculated air. Low Pressure (LP), low temperature refrigerant changes from liquid to vapor in the evaporator, absorbing large quantities of heat as it changes state.

Most of the moisture in the air passing through the evaporator condenses into water. The water drains out of the vehicle by passing through a drain tube to the underside of the vehicle.

The evaporator temperature sensor is located on the outlet side of the evaporator. The evaporator temperature sensor is of the Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) resistor type. The evaporator temperature sensor is hardwired to the HVAC control module.
