The Electric Vehicle (EV) battery cooler is located in the front compartment.
The EV battery cooler uses the refrigerant from the Air Conditioning (A/C) system to cool the EV battery coolant in the EV battery temperature control system. The EV battery cooler incorporates a Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) to control the flow of refrigerant through it.
The HVAC control module controls the EV battery cooler isolation valve. The EV battery cooler isolation valve is hardwired to the HVAC. The isolation valve is normally closed and is opened by a signal from the HVAC.
The EV battery cooler has a 2-pin wiring harness connector on the isolation valve. The 2-pin wiring harness connector has the following connections:
- A 12V signal from the HVAC.
- A ground connection.
The flow of refrigerant to the EV battery cooler is controlled by the HVAC operating the required A/C isolation valves.
