The 5 Air Conditioning (A/C) isolation valves are connected with valve blocks. The electric valves are responsible for the distribution of refrigerant in the A/C system, dependent on heat flow requirements.
The operation of the 5 A/C isolation valves is controlled by the HVAC control module through Local Interconnect Network (LIN) signals.
The A/C isolation valves have labels and are individual electronically coded to a specific location in the A/C system.
When the recovery heat exchanger operates as an evaporator, the A/C isolation valve EXV2 acts like a Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV). The HVAC controls the opening of the A/C isolation valve EXV2 to adjust the refrigerant flow. This controls the heat collected from the outside air by the recovery heat exchanger.
The A/C isolation valves are hardwired to the HVAC. The A/C isolation valves have a 4-pin connector for the wiring harness connector with the following electrical connections:
- Power supply from the HVAC.
- LIN signal from the HVAC.
- A ground connection.
