Spring - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2496455): Removal
CAUTION:
- All fasteners must be fully tightened with the vehicle at normal ride height. If this instruction is not followed the bushes can be damaged.
- Nut and bolt must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride height.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Remove the rear wheel and tire.

Use a suitable hydraulic stand and support the lower arm.
General Equipment: Vehicle/axle stands
Release the suspension height sensor link.
Remove and discard the shock absorber nut and bolt.
Remove and discard the tie-rod nut and bolt.
Release the 2 wiring harness grommets.
- Remove and discard the 2 integral link nuts and bolts.
- Remove the 2 integral links.
- Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link nut.
- Release the stabilizer bar link from the lower control arm.

CAUTION:
- Take extra care when handling the assembly. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the Constant Velocity joint (CV) or the CV boot.
- Make sure that during the release of the wheel knuckle assembly, the halfshaft is not released from the differential.
- Use a suitable stand to support the rear wheel knuckle assembly.
General Equipment: Vehicle/axle stands
- Remove and discard the rear lower control arm bolt.
- Release the wheel knuckle assembly from the lower control arm.

CAUTION: Only compress the spring enough to remove from the vehicle. Over compressing the spring may result in damage to the spring.
- Slowly lower the lower arm hydraulic stand.
- Install the special tool to the spring.
Special Tool(s): JLR-204-854
- Carefully compress the spring.
- Remove the spring and special tool from the vehicle.

NOTE:
- Only complete this step if a new spring is being installed.
- Note the measurements between the coils on the spring.
Remove the special tool from the spring.
Special Tool(s): JLR-204-854

CAUTION: Note the installed position of the components before removal.
Remove the 2 spring seats.
Examine the components and renew if damaged or worn.
