Spring (G2496454): Installation

CAUTION:
- Only compress the spring enough to install to the vehicle. Over compressing the spring may result in damage to the spring.
- Make sure that this component is installed to the noted removal position.
NOTE:- Only complete this step if a new spring is being installed.
- Install the 2 spring seats.
- Install the special tool to the spring.
Special Tool(s): JLR-204-854
- Install the spring.
- Carefully reposition the lower control arm with the transmission jack.
- CAUTION: Take extra care when handling the assembly. Failure to follow this instruction might result in damage to the Constant Velocity joint (CV) or the CV boot.
- Raise the transmission jack.
- Install the wheel knuckle assembly.
- Install and tighten the new lower control arm to wheel knuckle bolt.
Renew Part: Rear lower arm to knuckle bolt Quantity: 1 .
Torque
Stage 1: 110 Nm
Stage 2: 60°
- Remove the special tool from the spring.
Special Tool(s): JLR-204-854
- CAUTION: Make sure to counter hold the ball joint.
- Connect the stabilizer bar link.
- Install and tighten the new nut.
Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link retaining nut(s) Quantity: 1 .
Torque
Stage 1: 40 Nm
Stage 2: 45°
- Install the 2 integral links.
- Install and tighten the 2 new integral link nuts and bolts.
Renew Part: Integral link bolts Quantity: 2 .
Renew Part: Integral link nuts Quantity: 2 .
Torque
Stage 1: 48 Nm
Stage 2: 60°

- Reposition the wheel speed sensor wiring harness in the correct location.
- Install the 2 wiring harness grommets.
- Install the tie-rod to the wheel knuckle assembly.
- Install and tighten the new tie-rod nut and bolt.
Renew Part: Tie-rod to knuckle bolt Quantity: 1 .
Renew Part: Tie-rod to knuckle nut Quantity: 1 .
Torque
Stage 1: 80 Nm
Stage 2: 60°
- Install the shock absorber to the wheel knuckle.
- Install and tighten the new shock absorber nut and bolt.
Renew Part: Shock absorber to wheel knuckle mounting nut Quantity: 1 .
Renew Part: Shock absorber to wheel knuckle mounting bolt Quantity: 1 .
Torque : 170 Nm
- Connect the suspension height sensor.
- Install the rear wheel and tire.

- Use approved Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) wheel alignment equipment to check the wheel alignment and adjust if required.
