Catalytic Converter - Vehicles With: Row Specification (G2020235): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. CAUTION:

   • If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new HO2S. 
   • Make sure the HO2S  sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with the exhaust.
   • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the HO2S  sensor tip.
   NOTE:

   • If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.
   • This step is only required if previously removed.

   Install the pre-catalytic converter HO2S  to the catalytic converter assembly.

   Special Tool(s): 310-121 

   Torque  : 48 Nm 

2. • Install the catalytic converter.
   • Tighten the 2 bolts.

     Torque  : 25 Nm 

3. • Install the right heatshield.
   • Install and tighten the bolt.

     Torque  : 10 Nm 

   • Install the clip.
4. • Install the centre heatshield.
   • Install the 2 clips.
5. • Install a new gasket.

     Renew Part: Catalytic converter to turbocharger gasket Quantity: 1 . 

   • Install a new clamp.

     Renew Part: Front exhaust clamp Quantity: 1 . 

   • Secure the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.

     Torque  : 18 Nm 

6. • Connect the pre-catalytic converter HO2S  electrical connector.
   • Install the sensor wiring into the retaining clip.
7. • Install the 2 heatshields.
   • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

     Torque  : 8 Nm 

8. Install the right heatshield clip.
9. CAUTION:

   • If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new HO2S. 
   • Make sure the HO2S  sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with the exhaust.
   • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the HO2S  sensor tip.
   NOTE: If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.

   Install the upper HO2S. 

   Special Tool(s): 310-121 

   Torque  : 48 Nm 

10. • Install the turbocharger heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 8 Nm 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Right hand drive vehicles 

11. • Connect the steering column lower shaft to the steering gear.
    • Install and tighten a new bolt.

      Renew Part: Steering column lower shaft lower bolt Quantity: 1 . 

      Torque  : 30 Nm 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

12. Install the exhaust system.

    Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL (G2020236)  .

13. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .

14. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
