Fuel Tank (G2263607): Removal

WARNING:
Place the vehicle in a well ventilated, quarantined area and arrange ' No Smoking/Petrol Fumes' signs about the vehicle.
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustration showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety information.

- Drain the fuel tank.
Refer to: FUEL TANK DRAINING - V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Remove the rear driveshaft.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 3 clips.
- Remove wheel arch air deflector.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 8 clips.
- Remove the 6 bolts.
- Remove the 3 nuts.
- Remove the undershield.
- Release the hose clamp.
- Release the fuel filler pipe.
- Remove the 4 nuts.
- Remove the heatshield.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
Disconnect the fuel line.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with fuel fired booster heater

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
Disconnect the 2 fuel lines from the Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH) pump.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Disconnect the fuel line.
- Release the clip.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the fuel tank shield.
- Using suitable equipment, support the fuel tank.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Remove the 4 bolts and the nut.
- Remove the 2 fuel tank support straps.
- Lower the fuel tank and disconnect the vapor pipe from the fuel tank.
- Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with fuel fired booster heater
- Using suitable equipment, support the fuel tank.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
- Release the 5 clips.
- Remove the 3 fuel lines from the fuel tank.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles without fuel fired booster heater
- Release the 4 clips.
- Remove the fuel line from the fuel tank.
