Fuel Tank Isolation Valve - Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

The fuel tank isolation valve provides precise electronic fuel vapor management for the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The fuel isolation valve is located in the fuel vapor line between the fuel tank and the evaporative emission canister.
While the vehicle is running in electrical mode fuel vapor pressure in the fuel tank can increase. The fuel vapor flows from the fuel tank to the fuel tank isolation valve. The fuel tank isolation valve opens its valve to decrease the pressure in the fuel tank.
