Auto Stop/Start Strategy
Engine Speed Less Than 330 Revolutions Per Minute:
When an auto stop is initiated and the engine speed is less than 330 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). The restarting of the engine is controlled through the starter motor. The starter motor has the capability of engaging with the transmission ring gear whilst still rotating.
When the starter motor rotates the engine speed to greater than 330 RPM, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) then activates the fueling and engine systems. This restarts the engine.
Engine Speed Greater Than 330 Revolutions Per Minute:
When the engine speed is greater than 330 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) and an auto stop is initiated. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) activates the fueling and engine systems only, to restart the engine.
