Coolant Pump (G2244104): Removal

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all components must be sealed.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
    • If the replacement of the coolant pump is because of a coolant leak proceed to step 2.
    • If the replacement of the coolant pump is not because of a coolant leak proceed to step  3.

    1. Inspect the cylinder head coolant outlet pipe shown in illustration E298006.
    2. If the cylinder head coolant outlet pipe is to the latest level, continue to step  3.
    3. If the cylinder head coolant outlet pipe is not to the latest level, replace the cylinder head coolant outlet pipe and continue to sub step 4.

      Refer to: CYLINDER HEAD COOLANT OUTLET PIPE 

    4. Complete a coolant system pressure test to confirm the coolant leak has been rectified.

      Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PRESSURE TEST (G1898875)

  3. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  4. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: LIFTING

  5. Partially drain the coolant system.

    Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING 

  6. Remove the supercharger belt.

    Refer to: SUPERCHARGER BELT

    • Release the hose clamp.
    • Release the coolant hose from the coolant pump.

    Release the accessory drive belt.

    • Remove the bolt.
    • Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.

    Using a suitable tool remove the coolant pump pipe.

  11. WARNING: Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.
    CAUTION: Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilt, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.

    • Remove the 4 bolts.
    • Remove the coolant pump.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
    • Remove and discard the gaskets.
