Crankshaft Pulley (G2247133): Removal

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
Remove the cooling fan.
Refer to: ELECTRIC COOLING FAN AND SHROUD
Remove the starter motor.
Refer to: STARTER MOTOR
NOTE: Note the fitted position of the supercharger belt.

- Using a suitable tool release the tension from the supercharger belt tensioner assembly.
- Remove the supercharger belt.
NOTE: Note the fitted position of the accessory drive belt.

- Using a suitable tool release the tension from the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Reposition the accessory drive belt away from the crankshaft pulley.

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304 , 303-1448
- Install and tighten the 2 special tool bolts.
  Torque : 10 Nm

Remove the 2 crankshaft pulley bolts as illustrated.

Install the special tools as illustrated.

Special Tool(s): 303-1437 , 303-1438

Install and tighten the 2 special tool bolts.

Torque : 25 Nm

- Remove the 2 special tool bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304 , 303-1448

Using a suitable axle stand, support the special tools.

Special Tool(s): 303-1437 , 303-1438

General Equipment: Axle stands
NOTE: The crankshaft pulley bolt will be very tight.

With the aid of the special tool remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1304 , 303-1448
- Install and tighten the 2 special tool bolts.
  Torque : 10 Nm

- Remove the two bolts from the special tool.

Remove the special tools.

Remove and discard the crankshaft pulley bolt.

Remove the 2 crankshaft pulley bolts as illustrated.

Install the special tool.

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): 303-1439
- Tighten the 4 special tool bolts.
  Torque : 25 Nm

Using a suitable tool rotate the special tool as illustrated in the direction illustrated.
NOTE: Make sure to clean the threads in the end of the crankshaft and that the end of the crankshaft is free of any foreign materials.

Remove the crankshaft pulley.

- Remove the 4 bolts from the special tool.
- Remove the special tool from the crankshaft pulley.
