Preliminary (G2496214)
1. Make sure that the vehicle has arrived in a sealed condition. Remove and discard the seals following local regulations.
Make sure that the vehicle has arrived with the transportation seals intact.
After parking the vehicle in a work bay, open the hood for access and record the vehicle details on the PDI check sheet.
- Vehicles equipped with PHEV : Switch the ignition ON, then select Dynamic Mode to start the engine.
- Passenger compartment doors shut;
- Driver's seatbelt engaged; and
- Ignition switched 'ON'.
2. Check that the vehicle conforms to the specifications and options expected.
Record the following details on the PDI check sheet:
- Invoice number
- Customer name
- Model
- Registration number
- Registration date
- Odometer
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Engine number
- Smart key number
- Activity key number (if equipped)
- Paint code
- Trim code
- Battery test code
- Locking wheel nut code (if equipped)
- The smart key number is the 8 - 10 digit code found on the label of the plastic bag containing the smart keys supplied with the vehicle.
- The activity key number is the 9 digit code found on its storage case.

- Vehicles equipped with PHEV : Switch the engine OFF.
3. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit to the vehicle.
Make sure that the correct standard of battery care is applied. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY CARE REQUIREMENTS - VEHICLES WITH: 12V LI-ION STARTUP BATTERY
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved battery support unit to the vehicle. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY SUPPORT UNIT CONNECTION PROCEDURE
To charge the startup battery, connect the positive cable to the positive charge point and connect the negative cable to the negative charge point in the engine compartment.
4. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment to the vehicle.
embedded Subscriber Identification Module (eSIM) (if equipped).
- If the Know Your Customer identity verification has not been completed, the vehicle's eSIM will remain suspended and the local eSIM profile will not be downloaded during the PDI process preventing the completion of the PDI.
- A vehicle with a suspended eSIM will still show as having a data connection (signal bars), but the eSIM will not transmit or receive any data. To confirm the Know Your Customer status, retailers should search the VIN through the Tata Communications eKYC portal accessible through the Global Retailer Portal.
Check that the customer has completed the Know Your Customer identity verification process before completing the PDI application.
Run the Jaguar Land Rover Pre-Delivery Inspection application:
- Make sure that all smart keys supplied with the vehicle are positioned on the center console.
- Press the hazard warning lamp switch to switch the ignition ON.
- The JLR approved diagnostic equipment will read the vehicle identification details from the vehicle.
- Ignition cycles are automatically controlled by the JLR approved diagnostic equipment.
- Check that the vehicle specifications read by the JLR approved diagnostic equipment match the actual vehicle specifications.
- Select the 'Service'
tab.
- Select the 'Pre-Delivery Inspection' tab.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. This will set up telematics, disable the factory speed limiter and perform a full Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) clear.
- During telematics set-up:
- The system will now search for signal coverage.
- If it detects a good signal coverage, confirm to activate the telematics module.
- A message will state if activation was successful, a red light will illuminate the SOS call switch.
- If unsuccessful or the JLR approved diagnostic equipment states a poor signal coverage, the vehicle must be moved to an area of good signal coverage.
- Press the information call switch, after 10 seconds the illumination pattern will change. Release the switch and the system will try to activate the telematics module.NOTE: This will time out after 2 minutes.
- If successful, the information call light will stay illuminated for a short period and the SOS call switch will be illuminated red.
- If unsuccessful, repeat the process until the SOS call switch is illuminated red.
- Confirm the operation of the ERA-GLONASS system.
- Press and hold the SOS call switch.
- Wait for a response from the call center operator.
- Answer the call center operator with the phrase, 'Carrying out pre-delivery inspection'.
- Response from the call center operator will be, 'Information received'. The call will then be disconnected.
- If the call does not connect please call the telematics service desk using the normal process.
Activity key (if equipped).
Connect the charger to the activity key.

Pair the activity key to the vehicle.
Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to interrogate any DTC 's that are present and rectify.
5. Check the register of Service Action Bulletins, Recall Actions, or Update Prior to Sales (UPS) notices and make sure all open campaigns are completed during the PDI.
Make sure that all service actions have been complete and there are no recall actions.
6. Pivi Pro Map Installation.
- Vehicles equipped with PHEV : Switch the ignition ON, then select Dynamic Mode to start the engine.
The engine must be running or in Electric Vehicle (EV) ready mode during the entire map update process to make sure that the vehicle's power-saving measures do not interrupt the update.

7. Disconnect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment from the vehicle.
- Vehicles equipped with PHEV : Switch the engine OFF.
8. Disconnect the battery support unit from the vehicle.
9. Startup battery test.
- The battery voltage check MUST be performed to make sure the Stop/Start system performs correctly. The startup battery must be in good condition prior to handing over the vehicle to the customer.
- Only use JLR approved battery test equipment to test the startup battery condition.

The startup battery test is to be completed before performing the remainder of the PDI , while the startup battery is not connected to the vehicle.
The startup battery must be tested to determine that it is in good condition and there is sufficient charge to complete the PDI. Certain electrical systems require a precise voltage to operate correctly.
Use the JLR approved battery test equipment to check the battery charge condition.
Record the startup battery voltage and test code on the PDI check sheet. For additional information, Refer to: NEW VEHICLE STORAGE FORM
Check the startup battery terminals.
Make sure that the positive and negative terminals are fully installed and tightened to the correct torque. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES - VEHICLES WITH: NON-ELECTRIC VEHICLES
10. Reconnect the Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit.
11. Check the engine compartment fluid levels.
- The engine must be left switched off for 10 minutes before checking the oil, to allow a full drain down. Failure to do this may result in overfilling.
- The brake fluid level should be between MIN and MAX based upon brake pad wear. Only top-up the brake fluid to MAX after new brake pads have been installed.
- If the brake fluid level is below MIN, visually check for any leaks.
Investigate the cause if any fluid levels are low.
All engine variants:
- Brake fluid reservoir caps (beneath covers):
- Right hand drive vehicles.
- Left hand drive vehicles.
- Washer fluid reservoir cap.
- Oil filler cap.
- Oil level gauge (if equipped).
- Coolant expansion tank cap.
