Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING: This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
  • Some components shown removed for clarity.
  • Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

  2. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Refer to: Engine  (303-01 Engine - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol, Removal).
  4. Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling  (303-01 Engine - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol, General Procedures).

    Install the special tool.

    Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1304

    Install the special tool.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm

    Support the special tool using a suitable vehicle stand.

  15. CAUTION: The crankshaft pulley bolt must be removed clockwise. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the crankshaft. 
    NOTE: The crankshaft pulley bolt will be very tight.

    Remove the special tools.

  18. NOTE: Discard the bolt after removal.

    Install the special tool.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm

  24. CAUTION: Discard the friction washer after removing the crankshaft pulley.
    NOTE: Make sure to clean the threads in the end of the crankshaft and that the crank nose is free of any foreign materials.

  27. CAUTION:
    • The bolts can only be used 3 times, mark the bolts with a center punch. If 2 punch marks are visible, discard the bolts.
    • Make sure that no components fall off during removal.
    NOTE: Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated.

    • Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
    • This fuel pipe can be re-used, inspect for signs of damage. Renew if necessary.
    • Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.
