Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE: Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. NOTE: Install new O-ring seals.

    • Install all the bolts finger tight before final tightening.
    • The bolts can only be used 3 times, mark the bolts with a center punch. If 2 punch marks are visible, discard the bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the crankshaft is not rotated.
    • Make sure the crankshaft and flexplate mating faces are clean before installation.

    • Install the special tool.
    • Torque Specifications: 

      Stage 1: 45 Nm 

      Stage 2: 90° 

    • Remove the special tool.
    • Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1304

    • Make sure that the area around the open fuel injector ports are clean and free of foreign material and lubricant prior to installing the fuel injector.
    • When installing the fuel injector(s), make sure that the Teflon seal is clean and free of foreign material and lubricant.

    • If new fuel injectors are installed, a new injector clamp must be installed.
    • Make sure that the fuel injector is aligned and installed into the fuel rail correctly, as noted in the removal step.
    • Tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts a turn at a time until the correct torque is achieved.

    • Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

    Install the supercharger belt.

  106. Install the engine assembly.

  107. Install the battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

  108. CAUTION: Make sure that the engine oil level is reading at least minimum. Follow steps  109 - 115 before starting the engine.

    Start the engine and allow to run for 10 minutes, stop the engine.

  109. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the selector lever and the gearshift mechanism are in the park (P) position.
    • Make sure that the hood is open.

    Turn on the ignition.

    Press the menu button to access the main menu display.

    Scroll down the menu to the Vehicle Info selection.

    Press the menu button to access the Vehicle Info display.

    Scroll down the menu to the Oil Level selection.

    1. Press the menu button to access the Oil Level display.
    2. If the engine oil level is not available, it will be necessary to update the oil level value.

    1. Press the cruise control cancel button 2 times to update the oil level value.
    2. Check that the oil level display shows an oil reading.
    3. If necessary top up with engine oil.

    1. Allow 10 minutes for the engine oil level to stabilise if there has been an additional oil top up. Repeat steps 108-116.
    2. Make sure that the average oil level value has now been updated.
  117. Turn off the ignition.
