Fuel Tank (G1901946): Removal
- Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Place the vehicle in a well ventilated, quarantined area and arrange 'No Smoking/Petrol Fumes' signs about the vehicle.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Always follow the fuel system health and safety precautions when doing any repairs to the fuel system.

- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Drain the fuel tank.
Refer to: FUEL TANK DRAINING
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
- Remove the driveshaft.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
Remove the 3 bolts and the mudflap.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 2 nuts.
- Remove the 15 bolts and the undershield.
- Release the clamp.
- Disconnect the fuel filler pipe.
Remove the 5 nuts and the fuel tank shield.

CAUTION: If equipped.
Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 fuel tank shields.
Disconnect the 2 fuel pipes.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with fuel fired heater
Disconnect the 2 fuel pipes.
- Disconnect the fuel pipe.
- Release the clip.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Position a suitable support below the fuel tank.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Lower the fuel tank.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the fuel pipe.
- Remove the 4 nuts and the 2 brackets.
- Position a suitable support below the fuel tank.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Disconnect the 2 fuel pipes.
- Release the 2 fuel pipes from the 4 clips.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with fuel fired heater
- Disconnect the fuel pipe.
- Release the fuel pipe from the 5 clips.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the fuel pump and sensor unit.
