Brake Fluid Reservoir : Removal

WARNING: Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the reservoir. Use only new brake fluid of the correct specification from airtight containers. Do not mix brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible.
CAUTION:
  • If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
  • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
  • Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  • Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  • Left hand drive illustration shown, right hand drive is similar.

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

  1. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  2. Refer to: COWL PANEL

    • Using a suitable suction device drain the brake fluid reservoir.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Vehicles with manual transmission 

  5. WARNING: Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

  6. WARNING: Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.

    Torque  : 4 Nm 

  7. CAUTION: Discard the seals.
