Rear Shock Absorber (G2219848): Removal

NOTE:
  • This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  2. Using Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, depressurize the air suspension system.

    Refer to: AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM DEPRESSURIZE AND PRESSURIZE .

    General Equipment  : Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

  3. Remove the rear wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .

  4. NOTE: Vehicles equipped with adaptive shock absorbers only.

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Using a suitable stand, support the lower control arm.

    General Equipment  : Transmission jack

    Remove and discard the nut and bolt.

    • Remove and discard the 2 upper shock absorber nuts.
    • Remove the shock absorber.

    Note the position of the components.

  9. CAUTION: Inspect the components, replace if damaged or worn.
    NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.

    • Remove and discard the upper shock absorber nut.
    • Remove the shock absorber boot and upper bracket.
    • Remove the washer.
    • Remove the shock absorber bumper.
