Wheel Knuckle - Vehicles With: Coil Suspension (G2224833): Installation

  1. NOTE: Only do the following step if a new wheel knuckle is to be installed.

    Install the rear wheel bearing to the wheel knuckle.

    Refer to: WHEEL BEARING .

  2. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.
    CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the wheel hub and halfshaft mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    • This nut and bolt must be tightened with the vehicle at normal ride height.
    • Install the wheel knuckle assembly.
    • Install a new upper control arm nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Upper control arm retaining nut and bolt  Quantity: 1  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 60Nm 

    Stage 2: 60° 

  3. Install the rear spring.

    Refer to: SPRING .

    • Reposition the brake caliper wiring harness.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

    Torque  : 9Nm 

  4. CAUTION: Make sure that the components are clean, dry and free from corrosion and foreign material.
    • Install the rear wheel speed sensor.
    • Install the wiring harness.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 9Nm 

    • Install the brake disc heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

    Torque  : 9Nm 

  5. Install the brake disc.

    Refer to: BRAKE DISC .

  6. CAUTION:
    • Do not use air tools to tighten the halfshaft nut. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the halfshaft.
    • Make sure the halfshaft is correctly located in the wheel hub.

    Install and fully tighten the halfshaft nut removed in the removal steps.

    Torque  : 170Nm 

    • Remove and discard the halfshaft nut.
    • Install and tighten a new halfshaft nut.

    Renew Part: Rear halfshaft nut  Quantity: 1 

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 175Nm 

    Stage 2Loosen: 90° 

    Stage 3: 100Nm 

    Stage 4: 90° 

  7. Install the rear wheel and tire.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .
