Instrument Panel Cross-Car Beam (G2244200): Removal
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Evacuate the air conditioning (A/C) system.
Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
- Drain the climate control system and electric drive unit cooling system.
Refer to: CLIMATE CONTROL COOLING SYSTEM DRAIN AND FILL .
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
- Remove the instrument panel.
Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL .
- Remove the nut.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connector.

NOTE: Discard the bolt.
Remove the steering column lower shaft to steering column upper shaft bolt.

NOTE: if equipped.
Remove the screw.
- Remove the bracket.

- Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the A/C pipes.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 2 center supporting tubes.
- Remove the 2 nuts from the bracket.
- Remove the 2 brackets.

WARNING: The components may be heavy or awkward to handle. The assistance of another technician will be required.CAUTION: Make sure that the wiring harness is not twisted or damaged on removal. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the cross-car beam.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
- Release the clip.
- Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 5 screws.
- Remove the climate control unit.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the upper steering column.
- Remove the ground strap screw.
- Release the 17 clips.
- Remove the ground strap screw.
- Release the 6 clips.

CAUTION: Make sure that the wiring harness is not twisted or damaged on removal. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.NOTE: Make a note of the routed position of the wiring harness prior to removal.
Remove the instrument panel wiring harness from the cross-car beam.
