Instrument Panel Cross-Car Beam (G2244200): Installation

  1. NOTE: Only do the this step if the component was previously removed.
    • Install the instrument panel harness to the cross-car beam.
    • Secure the 21 clips.
    • Install the 2 ground strap screws.
  2. NOTE: Only do the this step if the component was previously removed.
    • Install the steering column to the cross-car beam.
    • Install the 4 screws.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • Secure the 2 clips.
  3. NOTE: Only do the this step if the component was previously removed.
    • Install the climate control unit.
    • Install and tighten the 5 screws.

      Torque: 15Nm 

    • Connect the 5 electrical connector.
    • Secure the clip.
  4. WARNING: The components may be heavy or awkward to handle. The assistance of another technician will be required.
    • With assistance, install the cross-car beam.
    • Install and tighten the 4 screws.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • Install the 2 brackets.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • Install the center supporting tubes.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 2 screws.

      Torque: 10Nm 

  6. CAUTION: Install new O-ring seals.
    NOTE: Make sure that the grommets are correctly seated.
    • Connect the 2 A/C pipes.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 5Nm 

    • Connect the 2 coolant hoses.
    • Install and tighten the climate control unit retaining bolt.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • CAUTION: Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

      Connect the steering column lower shaft and tighten the new bolt.

      Renew Part: Steering column intermediate shaft upper bolt Quantity: 1  .

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • NOTE: If equipped.

      Install the bracket to the cross-car beam.

    • Install and tighten the screw.

      Torque: 5Nm 

    • Install and tighten the ground strap nut.

      Torque: 2Nm 

    • Secure the 2 clips.
    • Connect the 4 electrical connectors.
  9. Install the instrument panel.

    Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL .

  10. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  11. Refill and bleed the climate control system and electric drive unit cooling system.

    Refer to: CLIMATE CONTROL COOLING SYSTEM DRAIN AND FILL .

  12. Recharge the A/C system.

    Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
