Transfer Case Draining And Filling (G2011753): Filling

  1. CAUTION: Make sure that a new drain plug is installed.
    NOTE: Make sure that all the component mating faces are clean.

    Install the fluid drain plug.

    Renew Part: Transfer case drain plug  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque  : 25 Nm 

  2. CAUTION: Make sure that a new drain plug is installed.
    NOTE: Make sure that all the component mating faces are clean.

    Install the fluid drain plug.

    Renew Part: Transfer case drain plug washer  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque  : 8 Nm 

  3. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
    NOTE: Discard the fluid level/fill plug.

    Remove the fluid level/fill plug.

  4. NOTE: The upper and lower transfer case fluid sumps use the same specification transfer case fluid.

    Fill the transfer case through the upper level/filler hole with the recommended fluid, until the fluid is level with bottom of the level/filler plug hole.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

  5. CAUTION: Make sure that a new fluid level/fill plug is installed.
    NOTE: Make sure that all the component mating faces are clean.

    Install the fluid level/fill plug.

    Renew Part: Transfer case fill plug  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque  : 8 Nm 

  6. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

    Install the fluid level/fill plug.

    Renew Part: Transfer case fill plug  Quantity: 1. 

    Torque  : 25 Nm

    • Install the bracket.
    • Install the 3 bolts.

    Torque  : 25 Nm

    • Install the bracket.
    • Install the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 45 Nm 

    • Install the 2 caps.
  11. Install the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL/INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL/TDV6 3.0L DIESEL/V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL .

  12. NOTE: This step must be completed before road testing the vehicle.
    • Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment.

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

    • Connect the JLR approved battery support unit.

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved battery support unit 

    • Run the 'Pump Venting' routine.
    • Check for Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) software updates.
    • Update TCCM software if required.
    • Disconnect the JLR approved diagnostic equipment.
    • Disconnect the JLR approved battery support unit.
  13. Drive the vehicle for approximately 2 Km (1.2 miles) including parking maneuvers and reversing.
