Fuel Level Sensors
There are 2 fuel level sensors used to measure the amount of fuel, remaining in the left and right sides of the fuel tank. The fuel level sensor 'B' is attached to the tank internal bracket and the fuel level sensor 'A' is attached to the outside of the LP fuel pump assembly swirl pot. Both sensors are connected to the vehicle wiring harness through the external electrical connector on the LP fuel pump assembly top flange assembly.
The fuel level sensor signals are converted into Controller Area Network (CAN) bus messages by the BCM /GWM and used by the Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module (IPC) for fuel gauge and fuel warning indicator operation. Also monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to store Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) for misfire detection when the fuel level is below a predetermined capacity.
