Pinpoint Test C: Rear Brake Noise

  1. C1: REAR BRAKE NOISE VEHICLES INSTALLED WITH: 325MM REAR BRAKES 
    NOTE: The issue may be more evident in colder ambient temperatures.
    1. Assess noise.

      Can a squeal noise be heard from the rear brakes during brake pedal application?

      Yes  : Replace the rear brake pads. Refer to: BRAKE PADS .

      No  : GO to  C3

  2. C2: REAR BRAKE NOISE VEHICLES INSTALLED WITH: 396MM REAR BRAKES 
    1. Assess noise.

      Can brake noise be heard from the rear brakes under normal driving conditions?

      Yes  : Raise an EPQR, attach a noise file, brake questionnaire and any other supporting evidence.

      No  : Road test the vehicle with the customer to confirm the noise has gone.

  3. C3: REAR BRAKE NOISE 
    1. Assess noise.

      Can a squeal noise be heard from the rear brakes without brake pedal application?

      Yes  : Is the rear brake caliper anti-rattle springs installed correctly? If not, reinstall the rear brake caliper anti-rattle springs correctly. Road test the vehicle, if the rear brake noise still exists, raise a TA with an attached sound file

      No  : No further action required, release the vehicle
