Pinpoint Test A: Clutch Slippage
- A1: TEST CLUTCH SLIPPAGE
- Chock the wheels and apply the parking brake
- Start the engine and engage 4th gear
- Increase the engine speed to approximately 2000 rpm
- Release clutch pedal slowly
Does the engine stall when the clutch pedal is fully released?
Yes
Clutch performing normally
No
GO to A2.
- A2: TEST CLUTCH FOR CLEARING
- Start the engine
- Fully depress the clutch pedal and partially engage reverse gear. Slowly release the clutch pedal until a grating noise is heard and then depress the clutch slowly until the grating stops
- Measure the distance between the clutch pedal and the vehicle floor
Is the measurement between 25 mm and 45 mm?
Yes
GO to A3
No
Check the clutch cover assembly. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
- A3: TEST FULL PEDAL TRAVEL
- Measure the clutch pedal distance between from fully released and fully depressed
Is the measurement between 140 mm and 150 mm?
Yes
GO to A4
No
Check clutch pedal for obstructions. Rectify as necessary
- Measure the clutch pedal distance between from fully released and fully depressed
- A4: TEST CLUTCH PEDAL
- Check the clutch pedal shaft for lubrication
Is the clutch pedal shaft sufficiently lubricated?
Yes
Check the clutch cover assembly. GO to PINPOINT TEST B .
No
Lubricate the clutch pedal shaft
- Check the clutch pedal shaft for lubrication
