Lower Timing Cover (G1867930): Installation

CAUTION: Make sure the locating dowels are positioned as shown in the illustration. Failure to position the dowels as shown in the illustration may result in engine damage.

Using a suitable tool, position the dowels as shown in the illustration.
CAUTION:
- Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
- The lower timing cover must be installed within 7 minutes of applying the RTV sealant.

Apply a 3 mm diameter bead of sealant, to the area shown.

Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
CAUTION:
- Take care not to damage the cylinder head gasket when installing the lower timing cover.
- Make sure the dowels are correctly located.

- Install and tighten the 2 lower timing cover bolts.
  Torque : 25 Nm

- Install and tighten the 4 lower timing cover bolts.
  Torque : 25 Nm

Install and tighten the remaining 10 bolts.

Torque

M8 x 35 bolts: 25 Nm

M8 x 25 bolts: 25 Nm

- Install and tighten the 3 bolts.
  Torque : 12 Nm

- Install and tighten the bolt.
  Torque : 13 Nm
Install the coolant pipes and tighten the bolt to the correct torque.
Torque : 10 Nm
Install the rear crankshaft oil seal.

Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
