Coolant Expansion Tank (G1785682): Removal

WARNING: Make sure the engine is not running and the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to doing this procedure.

CAUTION: Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilt, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.

The following step(s) applies to:

All vehicles

- Remove the expansion tank cap.
- Using a suitable syringe, remove the coolant from the expansion tank.

Disconnect the electrical connector and release the 6 clips.

The following step(s) applies to:

Vehicles with diesel engine

Disconnect the 2 pipes from the coolant expansion tank.

The following step(s) applies to:

Vehicles with petrol engine

Disconnect the pipe from the coolant expansion tank.

- Remove the bolt and reposition the coolant expansion tank.
- Release the electrical connector and hose from the coolant expansion tank.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank.
