Brake Pads - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2264156): Installation

  1. CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

    Clean the brake caliper using brake cleaning fluid.

  2. WARNING: If the brake caliper seals are damaged a new brake caliper must be installed.

    Inspect the brake caliper piston seals for damage.

  3. NOTE:
    • Only do the following step(s) if the component was previously removed.
    • Make sure that the components are installed in correct orientation.

    Install the new anti-rattle spring.

  4. CAUTION: Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the brake fluid reservoir.
    NOTE: Only do this step if new brake pads are to be installed.

    • Remove the access cover from the cowl panel.
    • Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  5. CAUTION: As the piston is pushed back into the brake caliper housing, the brake fluid level in the brake caliper reservoir will rise. Do not allow the brake fluid reservoir to overflow.
    NOTE: This step should only be followed when installing new brake pads.

    Using a piston retraction tool, push back the brake caliper pistons.

    Remove and discard the protective foil on the back of the brake pads.

  7. CAUTION: Make sure that the brake pads are installed in the correct orientation.
    NOTE: The arrow on the backing plate of the brake pad must face upward.

    Install the 2 brake pads.

  8. CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted and is correctly routed.

    • Install the brake caliper.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Renew Part: Brake caliper carrier bolt(s) Quantity: 2  .

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 110 Nm 

      Stage 2: 120  °

    Install the 2 retaining pins.

  10. NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if the component was previously removed.

    • Install the brake pad wear sensor.

      Renew Part: Brake pad wear sensor cable Quantity: 1. 

    • Connect the electrical connector.
    • Secure the wiring harness clip.
    • Secure the 4 grommets.
  11. NOTE:
    • Only do the following step(s) if the component was previously removed.
    • Left side only.

    Install the front wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER - V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL (G2263309)

    • Secure the 2 grommets.
    • Install the brake pad wear sensor.

    Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up to the 'MAX' mark with brake fluid, if necessary.

    • Install the cap to the brake fluid reservoir.
    • Install the access cover to the cowl panel.
  15. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
